Those catching a symphony show in Boston may want to consider trying an affordable matinee meal at Porto in Back Bay.
The Italian-inspired restaurant, which is just half a mile from Symphony Hall, has introduced a Pre-Symphony Prix Fixe Menu that will be available throughout the fall and winter.
Available starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, the three-course menu is intended to feed guests before seeing the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops or other classical performances.
At $49 per person, the menu highlights Porto’s coastal Mediterranean dishes that feature a New England touch. Diners who opt for the menu have their choice of one of three appetizers, one of four entrees and one of two desserts.
Start with the Roasted Carrots — paired with whipped gorgonzola, pickled cranberries, tuscan kale, pecans and dill — or the Poached Pear & San Danielle Prosciutto.

Meanwhile, standout entrees include Nonna’s Eggplant Parmigiana — made simple with thin layers of eggplant and lightly dusted with Parmigiano-Reggiano — and the Za’atar Spiced Chicken paired with squash caponata. Finish with either the fresh-out-of-the-oven Warm Chocolate Chip Cookie or sorbet.
The Pre-Symphony Prix Fixe Menu is available for up to four people. Porto opens for dinner at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and is closed Sunday through Monday.
The restaurant is located on Ring Road on the side of the Prudential Center, adjacent to Star Market.
