Took grill cover off after 2-3 years of it just sitting outside, it is heavily rusted throughout, along with heavy flaking, seems unsafe, but I decided to ask the pros

You could salvage it, but it’s gonna take some parts and some scrubbing. Might be better to just buy a new one.

I recently bought a replacement kit on Amazon, it was only like 20

Totally salvagable. Those parts are all replaceable and available on Amazon or in stores. If youre really ambitious, clean out the empty box with some oven cleaner. Otherwise just replace the grates, flavorizers (the V shaped things) and those other things that is cant remember what they’re called.
Season the grates and off you go

  4. Yep. Order new burner shields and grates from Amazon… maybe new burners and ignition, too. Scrape the old junk out. Wipe down with soap and water.

I’ve always been of the mindset that if the carcass of the grill was sound, the parts are always available and reasonably inexpensive. If there’s heavy rust or any holes in the carcass, probably not worth the effort.

Salvageable? Yes. Economically worth it? Likely not.

If it’s not rusted through it’s salvageable

Just buy a set of flavorizer bars and start grilling.

As long as the firebox is intact, everything else can be fixed at a reasonable price.

This is 100% salvageable. Order new heat deflectors and flavorizers. I just ordered mine off some dude on eBay. And then just scrape out all old grease and maybe do some oven cleaner and wash it down

Throw it in the trash where it belongs

Definately. I’d just clean the grates and re-season them. If they’re too far gone just buy a new set of grates. The heat plates and the flame tubes are probably $40, new grill is $300-400.
