This Hummus with Beef looks absolutely fantasticβit’s a classic comfort food for a reason. Lebanese-style π
I know what you’re thinking… “This guy’s using canned beans AGAIN?!” Yes, I am. Because laziness is a lifestyle, and who has a garden just for chickpeas? Plus, every YouTube recipe tells you not to use canned chickpeas for hummus, so naturally, I had to try it.
Spoiler alert: It’s delicious. We’re making a super smooth hummus with a little ice, topping it with savory seasoned beef and toasted pine nuts, and pretending we’re on the Mediterranean. It’s the perfect dip or meal!
Ingredients
For the Hummus
* 1 Large can Chickpeas, rinsed and drained
* 1/4 clove Garlic, minced (use more I have baby)
* 2-3 tbsp Tahini (Korean sesame paste worked)
* 1 Ice Cube
* Juice of 1/2 Lemon
* 1 tsp Olive Oil
* Salt to taste
For the Toppings
* 1/2 lb Ground Beef
* 1 tbsp Ghee (or oil)
* Spices for Beef: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Paprika, Salt, Pepper
* 1/4 cup Pine Nuts
* Cooked Roasted Beets, (optional, baby hated the beats)
* Fresh Parsley, chopped
* Green Olives
* Pita Bread, for serving
Short Cooking Instructions
* Cook the Beef: Heat the ghee in a pan. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned. Season generously with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper. Set aside.
* Toast the Pine Nuts: In a dry pan over medium heat, toast the pine nuts, stirring frequently, until golden brown and fragrant (about 2-3 minutes olive oil optional I used it). Set aside.
* Make the Hummus: In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, garlic (if using), and tahini. Blend until it forms a thick paste.
* Add Ice & Liquids: Add the ice cube (this makes it extra smooth and keeps it cool!), lemon juice, and olive oil. Blend again until the hummus is incredibly smooth and creamy. Add salt to taste.
* Assemble: Spread the hummus evenly on a serving plate. Create a slight well in the center. Arrange the chopped roasted beets over the hummus. Top generously with the seasoned ground beef. Sprinkle the toasted pine nuts and chopped parsley all over. Garnish with green olives.
* Serve: Serve immediately with warm pita bread for dipping.

I know what you’re thinking. This guy’s using canned beans again. Bro, I don’t have a garden for chicks pee. Plus, why would I listen when every single YouTube recipe says not to make hummus with the canned ones? We should also add beef so we can pretend we’re on the Mediterranean instead of the Pacific. That was ghee. And look, I’m seasoning the meat this time. Steamy. So, when your nuts drop, you can spread that meat. She’s hot and wet. It’s definitely time to grind with a/4 clove of garlic, Korean sesame paste. This time, I finally added an ice cube, some lemon, and oil. I guess the ice keeps things wet longer and prevents everyone from overheating. Smooth moves with the parsley and roasted red beets. So once you got it spread, just stay cool. Now throw on the beets cuz it’s time to use your meat and your nuts. Some green in your snacking.
