Happy Halloween! Here are some recent eats from the past few days – not every meal is pictured, for example my delicious NY Strip Steak Bite were not the most aesthetic (but were delicious), so no photos here.
My miniature dachshund, Maple, also gets homemade food by me as she is a picky girl. If y’all have any recommendations for a vitamin to add into her meals o would appreciate it!
Anyways.. first photo is a dinner of Chicken Cutlets, with lots of fresh herbs and pecorino cheese- accompanied by “Marry Me” fettucine which is basically a sun-dried tomato and parmesan sauce, with a little bit of spinach. I used Carbe Diem brand low-carb pasta, and it was ok. But tbh, the Barilla protein pasta is much better. I will use up what I have but would not purchase again – it was on sale though. The sauce was delicious. It’d be better over reg. pasta or even spaghetti squash, which I love! π
Fifth pic is what we’d call the “sleeper hit” of the week- marinated grilled chicken with homemade rice pilaf and avocado. This meal got a perfect score, the pilaf was delicious and the creamy avocado tasted delicious when mashed with each bite. I forgot the measurements for the marinade but it was basically olive oil, balsamic, soy, Worcestershire, honey, spices, and dijon mustard if I remember correctly. So good π
Sixth photo is a solo-meal – just buffalo chicken and broccoli stuffed sweet potato. I liked it but prefer my buffalo chicken crispy I think. Still good.
Seventh pic is a chicken quesadilla on a whole wheat tortilla. I just had one chicken breast and made a whole meal of it, and threw in some Colby jack and Mexican cheese, along with some pickled jalapeΓ±os. It was delish!
Pictures 8 and 9 belong to Maple Pumpkin, the 3.5 lb fabulous 12 week old Dachshund who has decided she is too cool for dog-food and wants a homemade meal. I looked up some small-breed recipes and here’s what I made her. I roasted up a large package of chicken drumsticks (because it was the cheapest cut) then I pulled off the skin and shredded the meat. I cooked 1.5 cups of white rice in bone broth, and mixed in the chicken along with a shredded zucchini, a small cooked sweet potato, a shredded carrot, 3 cups of chopped spinach, and peas. She really enjoys it except apparently she hates sweet potato as she always leaves it behind. Sometimes she avoids the peas too but will usually eat them in order to get to the chicken. I did not add any seasonings. She has been eating a bowl of it twice a day and enjoying it, and I froze batches of it so she will have food for a couple of weeks. Bonus pic of the adorable pupper at the end.
Tonight’s dinner will be leftover candy.. JK! I’m making stir-fry. I’m eating Nerds and Mini Crunch bars before dinner, like a civilized adult of course. Happy Halloween π»

FYI your food looks good enough that you donβt have to use your dog for karma on every post you make

Your dog would benefit greatly from some organ meat. Chicken liver is pretty affordable.

Second and third photos are of “practice prime rib” but i used an NY Strip Loin roast as it was cheaper at Costco. I had cut the whole loin into 8 thick steaks + a 3-ish lb roast. I reverse seared it with garlic and herb butter and served with mushroom risotto. My fiancΓ© enjoyed the meal but prefers a seared steak- as I am hosting the holidays I wanted to practice for prime rib. I thought the beef was amazing! The risotto was good but the last time I made risotto was on election day of last year so I may be a bit traumatized by the food! π jk, jk!!
Fourth photo is of a dessert- banana bread which my fiancΓ© went nuts over! It was delicious with peanut butter.

I add eggs and pumpkin and leave the peas out.
