Mayonnaise, tuna, pimento, olives and raisins all in one sandwich.  I can’t imagine anyone thinking “yeah, that’ll taste good together.”

Food staging photography was so awful in this era. Everything looks disgusting!

That sunny salad is certainly….. interesting.
    And buttermilk aspic?!?! Brave souls.

I’m curious about the light-hearted hotcakes. There’s no time for the yeast to rise or anything, right?

I am absolutely going to try that banana peanut “salad.” I have an egg allergy, but I think the bean-based egg substitute will work for this.

Serve mock pecan pie for Thanksgiving, your family will thank you!?

Ah… the days when ice tongs and massive blocks of ice were considered “food styling” and “congealed” in the names of recipes was actually considered appetizing 😬 I think I am gonna try that sweet potato pudding though!😎

I gasped when this scrolled by! Talk about a random blast from the past! My mother had this exact book. I remember thinking the artistic rendering of the food items on the cover meant it was extra fancy, like they hired a real-live artist instead of just throwing some stupid pictures on there

I have this book in my kitchen. It was one of my wedding gifts in 1974! And yes, I still use it.

I had this book for a while. A former boyfriend’s mom was from Georgia. I always lived in the north and asked her about Southern cooking and she took a few books off her shelf and gave them to me. This was one of them along with a Taste of Georgia. I donated them in a decluttering but only after many years of making recipes and learning from them. I especially pulled out pie recipes from them.

I wonder if canned grapes exist anymore

The cream cheese brownies are delicious! Comparing to my recipe today. Looks right. What a find. I bet the sweet potato pudding would be good too. !! Will have to try.
