The frequent mockery of beans on toast belies it's comfort and versatility. This is my go to post long run recovery lunch.

Toast, with proper salted butter.

Beans, clag factor of about 7, with some smoked paprika.

Mature cheddar cheese on top spiked with Worcestershire sauce, grilled till crispy.

Crispy runny fried eggs, with salt and pepper.

And the controversial final flourish, Lao Gan Ma crispy chilli and beans, don't knock it till you've tried it.

Brown sauce optional, big mug of tea essential.
