2020 Dönnhoff Roxheimer Höllenpfad

Lemon zest and wet slate on the nose. High acidity, round and full mouthfeel, completely dry. Complex palate, yellow citrus and grapefruit, layers of minerals, leading to a long finish accompanied by subtle green herbal notes. Great pairing with simple linguini vongole. Excellent.

We had a bottle of Bisci Verdicchio di Matelica 2023 with some Cacio e Pepe and mixed greens vinaigrette salad. Lovely and lively acidity, minerality, and citrus notes that complemented and cut through the rich and peppery pasta.

    Go Jays!

    Far Niente chardonnay.

It’s a pretty fancy bottle for me, but I think it was worth the splurge.

Fedellos Os Bidueiros 2019, a Burgundy-esque red blend from Ribeira Sacra. I don’t know what game 7 is about (baseball?) but Union Berlin played 0-0 against Freiburg.

I am drinking 2022 Stolpman Vinyards La Cuadria from the Central Valley of California. This Ballard canyon wine celebrates the wine harvesters with profit sharing. Its easy drinking grilled strawberry, plum, black berry, fig, black pepper, and tobacco leaf lend itself to enjoying a baseball game. It is Grenache Syrah mouvedre Sangiovese blend whose vineyard is a fun weekend destination from the Chavez ravine.
