Tonight I’m making road cabbage. One of my favorite Yoshoku dishes. Yoshoku means western style food, but in Japan it’s our own kind of comfort cooking inspired by the west yet deeply rooted in Japanese homes. I season ground meat with salt and pepper and a touch of aami sauce. Then wrap it with cabbage leaves. I pack the rolls tightly in a pot so they don’t dance while cooking. The flavor comes from ketchup, umami sauce, and a little butter. Simple but rich and soothing. At home, I probably cook yoshoku more than anything else. Haguare they all came from the west but somehow they taste like

  5. Wow!๐Ÿ˜This reminds me of holubtsi(ะณะพะปัƒะฑั†ั–) a lot. Watched the video and really want to make them now! Need to ask grandma for a cabbage๐Ÿ˜

  6. Wow cabbage roll yeah. I like the Japanese version. In my culture we make it with fermented cabbage. Don't like fermented cabbage I usually like made from regular cabbage.

  7. We do have the same in Greece called lachanodolmades or ฮปฮฌฯ‡ฮฑฮฝฮฟฮฝฯ„ฮฟฮปฮผฮฑฮดฮตฯ‚ in Greece language , we are making it with or without sometimes egg sauce and rice or without, it depends how you like it, there is many versions like without meat only rice or both, the most popular are with egg sauce and we are making also with leaves from grapes plants as well , we are mixed it in a pot half with cabbage half with leaves, it's my favourite dish since I was little โคโคโค

  8. I find it amazing that so many cultures make similar food. Polish makes the same dish. We are all truly one people at heart under the sun. This is why YouTube is fabulous in brining us together helping us to better understand, love & respect each other if we open our hearts! โค

  10. that's very Eastern European! As someone from the Balkans , where we stuff everything- bell peppers, tomatoes, big onions, grape leaves and of course cabbage, I am very happy. My favourite are fermented cabbage rolles!
