The first french 3* in this trip, visited for lunch solo via email with the restaurant. One of the more discussed 3* on this subreddit, I had high expectations in coming here and had a really nice experience overall but definitely some dishes which I thought were lacking.
Service was excellent, I had 3 of the wait staff rotating during the menu and they were all lovely to talk to. I really enjoyed the table side preparation and plating, they seemed really on it and clearly practiced alot with they did it so easily. The meal was around 2 hours and 20 minutes
The menu has recently increased in price noticeably, now at ¥56925 per person after tax and service. I think the cost to value ratio isn’t great, I am interesting in coming again in the future to try different items but not for the foreseeable future. I enjoyed the meals at Sezanne and Joel Robuchon in tokyo personally.
I ordered the non alcoholic pairing which was generally good, not great. Did like their version of non alcoholic wine made from beetroot and blueberries, the flavour was more pronounced than other versions I’ve had.
Koshu grape and grape juice mocktail with seasonal vegetable crisps and tofu sour cream – thought it was a fun way to start the meal
Risotto with matsutake mushrooms, Ise lobster, scallops, and Sasaki Nishiki rice. Matsutake fragrance was amazing and the umami of the seafood was delicious.
64 kinds of salad – every bite was so varied in flavour and intensity, it was great fun to try a range of vegetables in different combinations with seasoning placed around the plate. Not every bite was as good as the other
Slow cooked turnip with brown butter and parsley sauce, croutons and cured ham – another staple of the restaurant, didn’t love it to be honest. The flavour of the turnip was a bit too mild for me, the sauce helped give it some punch.
Grilled whey marinated Grouper, with Americaine sauce and parsnip pure – finished in front of the table for a bit of theatre, the sauce was delicious and pairs nicely with the dish.
Kyoto roasted duck with red wine sauce and sauteed makomodake & cauliflower mushroom with white wine sauce – favourite of dish, exceptionally well cooked duck and the makomodake was extremely delicious. sweetness and umami expanded with each bite.
Wholewheet pasta with kyoto duck consomme and meatballs – looked and felt like a soba dish, was ok overall
Cheese course – 6 types of sauce some with accompaniments, first time having brown cheese which had a caramel sweet flavour which was tasty.
island banana panna cotta with jasmine flower ice cream with passion fruit sauce and filo crisp – enjoyed it even though not a banana in desserts person, jasmine flower flavour was perfect. Crisp and passion fruit sauce gave it more complexity
Petit fors served with matcha and a peanut milk
At the end they had me choose a souvenir to take home and got coffee sachets, as well as cheese and rosemary sables as well as a mini loaf of turnip bread

I think they will be increasing their prices even more next year.
When we went last year I think it was around 48k for lunch.
