I went to Fogo de Chao and there were a few marinated peppers. I recognized the Cascabel and other chiles but I have never seen the one pictured and it didn’t have a tag. What is it?

It was a sweet pepper with a floral taste, pretty close to a habanero.

Tear drop pepper. I had this a few nights ago on a pizza. So good!

Yeah looks like a red chupetinho, aka red biquinho in Spanish. Sold sweet-pickled as “sweety drops” and other names in fancier anglosphere grocery stores. They come in several different colorations and patterns with distinct heat levels – reds are the mildest AFAIK and the most common.

Biquinho. Usually pickled with vinegar and cachaça.

These are so good!! My local store had some last season, I bought them all lmao

  5. That’s a tomato my guy /s

    Joke aside, most likely biquinho

  6. Binquinho. They should not be as spicy as habanero. They vary in spice level though in my experience, from nearly 0 to above a spicy jalapeno.

That would be a biquinho (little beak). I grow them each year. Absolutely delicious.

They look like Raquito peppers to me. Sweet and not hot at all. Enjoy them on pizza.

If you are in the U.S. they are often sold as “Sweetie Drop” peppers. They come in a very small jar for $14, or a whole fucking family sized baked beans can for $11 where I am.

  10. Thanks everyone for all of the responses. I found a jar of these available from the “Big A” and I’m going to try them out. Quite a few responses about having them on pizza. I’m going to try them out on the next pizza night.

Will it be good enough to replace Sriracha or Yellow Bird habanero?? We’ll see…

They’re pretty easy to grow, very versatile little guys.

I have grown those before. I like to ferment them.

Binquinho. Translated as “little beaks”. Never tried the red ones myself, I normally grow the yellow ones. They’re very floral. My mom can’t stand them. She says they smell/taste like soap. I like frying them with eggs, or dehydrating them into powder.

They are also called “sweety drops”. There are lots of different colors of them. I grow the red and yellow varieties of Biquinho or sweety drops. The plants are easy to grow and produce masses of them.

Pepper drops! A specialty store downtown carries them. They’re jarred in some kind of sweet oil.

In the UK they are branded as “Peppadew Peppadrops”, they are submerged in a sweet liquid which imparts its flavour on the pepper and they are super sweet and tasty.

The ones I grew were hot as hell so I didn’t plant any this year although I do still have one that’s a volunteer, lol
