I think my rolls are a bit too big, and they definitely aren’t tight enough without a mat, i have more off all the ingredients and im going to try again tomorrow

  2. For the uramaki maybe but the hosomaki looks quite good

  3. Looks good especially for a first try. Those salmon rolls are well done for not using bamboo mat, you can tell you don’t have one for the other rolls though lol.

Where do you get your salmon?

Looks awesome for a first try with no rolling mat.

They look better than when I tried with a mat.

Definitely less rice on the salmon. What I’ve learned is it’s okay to have black patches where you can see the nori, it doesn’t need to look like a snow covered field.

I’m still struggling to do the inside out rolls, for some reason the filling never wants to stay out for me

op says “without a mat” when that’s what mine look like “with a mat” i’m downvoting myself on this one…

  8. You did amazing for first try with no rolling mat!! The only critique I would give is less rice. The layer should be thin enough to still see spots of nori through it while still coating the sheet from edge to edge.

I could never master the rolling mat so I cheated and got a sushi bazooka. 😛
