Brad Pitt accused his ex-wife Angelina Jolie of “persistent misdirection” in their ongoing legal battle over their shared winery, Chateau Miraval.
The former couple, who ended their 12-year relationship in 2016, have been locked in a legal tussle over the French vineyard since Angelina sold her stake in it last year. Now, Brad has filed court documents asking for a judge to dismiss Angelina’s demand for $33,000 and force her to release several private emails she has previously refused to provide.
Brad is keen to examine correspondence between Angelina and her business manager, Terry Bird, her British publicists, Chloe Dalton and Arminka Helic, as well as two financial consultants.

According to court papers obtained by Us Weekly, the 61-year-old actor highlighted that Angelina stated in her own declaration that it was “her routine practice to engage in lengthy conversations with her non-attorney business manager Terry Bird about ‘essentially all aspects of [her] business and professional life’ including discussion about ‘legal advice and proposed strategy’ at issue.'”
Brad further claimed, “What Jolie is describing here are brainstorming sessions between non-lawyers. The fact that these brainstorming sessions may have followed or preceded advice from a lawyer on the same general topic or a related topic does not shield them from [being turned over].”

He argued that the Maria actress “has categorically withheld such communications, including the entirety of all but one of Bird’s internal communications discussing the terms of the sale of her interest in Chateau Miraval to the [third party] – the key transaction at issue in this litigation.”
Concerning the emails to her publicists, Brad claimed no lawyers were involved, and Angelina has failed to explain why the assistance of “British image consultants was reasonably necessary to receive legal advice regarding the sale of the French home and winery she owned,” reports the Express US.
After more than three years of court battles, he insists there are countless missing emails and Angelina has “still produced only one internal email that even mentions the terms of the sale at the center of this case.”
The Moneyball star accused his ex-wife of refusing his request that she willingly hand over the messages for court examination. He declared: “It is odd that Jolie has declined to do so, given that it would presumably be the easiest way to meet her burden to show that she has redacted only privileged legal advice.”
Angelina has previously argued Brad wanted to gain access to emails discussing legal issues with others and she wasn’t obligated to hand them over. She also insisted that he be sanctioned by the court and pay her $33,000 to cover the legal costs of resisting the email request.

Her attorney, Paul Murphy, told the outlet, “Mr. Pitt’s reply brief does not address our arguments and continues to rely on conjecture and speculation – all for the purpose of invading her privileged communications with her lawyers. This once again confirms that this lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control Angelina. We look forward to the upcoming hearing.”
The stars of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, who tied the knot in August 2014, finally ended their marriage in December 2024 but continue to be embroiled in a bitter dispute over Chateau Miraval.
After Angelina decided to sell her share to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group, Brad initiated legal proceedings in February 2022 alleging she had finalized the deal despite their mutual agreement that neither would go ahead without the other’s approval.
The star of Maleficent retaliated with her own lawsuit through her former business Nouvel in September of that year, arguing that the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor had been “waging a vindictive war against” her since she filed for divorce in September 2016.
The company also accused Brad of “masterminded a so-far-successful plan to seize control” of Chateau Miraval following the couple’s divorce.
Angelina filed court docs earlier in regards to the two’s legal battle of her selling her stake in Chateau Miravel. She detailed how this and their divorce was hard for her and their six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

The 50-year-old director said the discussions they had about Brad buying the winery was “difficult” because of her “deep emotional ties to our family home there and how our relationship ended.”
“Miraval was one of the first major investments we made together, and it was a focal point of our family life. We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there and I brought our twin children home there from the hospital. To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard, and it was especially difficult for the children to have their lives so disrupted,” she said in the court docs, per US Weekly.
She shared that things changed in 2021 following her bringing up alleged domestic violence in their separate divorce case. Angelina claimed that Brad wanted her to sign an NDA, which she said there was “no practical need for” as she didn’t press charges or publicly speak on the events that resulted in their divorce. After the deal had fallen apart following Angelina rejecting the NDA, Angelina stated that she told Brad about selling to Stoli.
One of the events Angelina is referring to is the alleged private plane altercation on September 14, 2016, where her and Brad were flying with their six kids from France to Los Angeles. Angelina accused Brad of verbally and physically abusing her and their children on the plane. Brad has denied the allegations.
