Matt Abé Bonheur opened on 4th Nov 2025 in Mayfair, London at the historical location of Le Gavroche which Chef Matt Abé opened himself. This would be the first restaruant Matt Abé Bonheur opened ever after sustaining the 3 Michelin stars at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.
Cuisine Inspired by Heritage
Bonheur brings a fresh approach to ingredient-led, classical cuisine with a modern twist. The name “Bonheur,” meaning happiness in French, reflects the restaurant’s ethos. Drawing on his Australian roots and Asian influences, Abé presents a menu that showcases his precision and dedication to quality ingredients. The restaurant offers an à la carte menu alongside two tasting options: the five-course Journey and the seven-course Dream.
For a more intimate experience, guests can opt for the Chef’s Table, known as Petit Bonheur, offering a close-up look at the craftsmanship behind each dish. Signature items include a reimagined Quiche Lorraine with smoked pork belly and Vin Jaune sauce, a 125-day aged Cumbrian Blue Grey Sirloin paired with a rich Bordelaise sauce, and a decadent Pecan Praline dessert layered with pecan, coffee, and vanilla parfait.
Wine Selection: Bold and Refined
Abé’s passion for wine mirrors his culinary expertise. Collaborating with Eric Zwiebel, the Head Sommelier, they have curated a wine list that spans both renowned labels and hidden gems. The selection is balanced, featuring both old and new world wines, designed to complement the diverse flavors of the dishes. A standout in the wine collection is Henri Giraud, a family-run Champagne house that exemplifies Abé’s dedication to craftsmanship and quality.
Sculptural and Inviting Interior Design
The design of Bonheur embraces a minimalist approach that is warm, welcoming, and rooted in natural textures. Conceptualized by Russell Sage Studio, the space features a semi-circular bar in the lounge, where guests can enjoy a cocktail before dinner. The subterranean dining area showcases sculptural waiter stations, bespoke floral installations, and abstract artwork by Rajan Seth, a London-based artist. The color palette reflects Abé’s Australian background, with hues of cream, rust, ochre, and cocoa. Unique materials like horsehair wallpaper and soft leather tabletops further elevate the ambiance.
