This is a recipe was a frequently requested item at our carry ins back in the 80’s. I am cleaning out my recipe box and wanted to share. So good to eat but so bad for the diet!!
Definitely one to share with a crowd!

    This would be great to make in a jellyroll pan & serve as a giant Ho Ho.

    Side note, I just love seeing oleo listed in old recipes (even though I almost always just use butter now) 😆

    *Image Transcription: Typed Recipe*

    #HO-HO CAKE
    Bake for 15 minutes, one chocolate or fudge cake mix in a 17 × 11
    baking sheet which is greased and floured.

    ##Filling
    Cook until thick

    5 tablespoons of flour
    1¼ cups milk

    Let cool

    Place in mixing bowl

    1 stick oleo
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup Crisco shortening

    Beat for 10 minutes then spread on top of cake

    ##Frosting
    Melt 1 stick oleo, cool slightly then add

    1 egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1½ cup powdered sugar
    3 squares chocolate melted or 9 tablespoons Hershey cocoa + 3 tablespoons oil
    2½ tablespoons hot water

    Beat until smooth

    Spread on cake

    Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve

    I grew up when oleo and Crisco was rampantly used, and I’m still alive! I do miss Crisco. It was a thing of beauty. 😂 Saving this recipe!
