Akorn grill, has some peeling of the inside material. Has anyone ever seen this? It hasn't been left out or anything.

  1. Yea it’s normal carbon buildup. My primo kamado & Weber kettle both look similar.

Yeah I get this on my Akorn. Just brush it off.

Put some cardboard down over the grill section, wire brush the flaky bits off, clean and grill something delicious. Cheers.

Normal, mine looks the same. Wire brush it off, no chemicals.

  5. Wad up some aluminum foil into a ball, and use that to scrub your dome.

Yep. Perfectly normal and safe to consume. You dont need to clean it off, just get any loose pieces off befor you cook so they dont fall into the food, theu dont taste very good

Totally normal, it needs to be cleaned. You can scrub it off with a stiff brush, etc. or do a clean burn. If you do the latter you should be prepared to change the gasket.

Awesome thank y’all for the feedback much appreciated.

  9. Air compressor or electric blower will get all the loose bits off.

It’s metastatic carbon. It’s terminal my man. Only treatment is to fire it up as often as possible.

Normal. Get the fire up to about 275 and put a bar of Irish Spring on the grate. Will e new in 2 hours

  12. The counterclockwise airholes in combination with the chrome exterior might punch you in the eyes depending on fumes. Chrome isn’t necessarily a group known for spinning, so why force it?

Yeah you good, keep cooking! Just clean sometimes

Yes, the purpose of the hinge is to allow the lid to go up like that, perfectly normal

Thats so normal I recognized what grill you have lol. Hit it with a wir4 brush when it starts flaking off and leave it alone until that point

  16. A small (8”) gong brush works really well to get that off. A lot easier than foil.
