GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Michelin announced which restaurants are receiving a star as part of their inaugural American South guide.
During an announcement Monday night at the Peace Center in Greenville, ten restaurants across the southeast were awarded one Michelin Star while one restaurant will receive two.
In South Carolina, four restaurants earned a Michelin Star, one restaurant in Greenville and three in Charleston.
Scoundrel, a French bistro located on North Main Street in downtown Greenville, was the lone Upstate restaurant to earn a star.
“Chef/owner Joe Cash’s upscale French bistro charms with an elegant dining room with hardwood floors and brick walls, a full-service bar and an engaging staff who make everyone feel well cared for and welcomed,” the guide reads. “It’s the hottest table in town, and reservations are a must, though seats at the bar feel far from a consolation prize.”
In Charleston, Malagón Mercado y Taperia, Vern’s, and Wild Common each earned a Michelin Star.
One restaurant in North Carolina earned a star, Counter in Charlotte.
The remaining six restaurants include three in New Orleans and three in Nashville.
Emeril’s in New Orleans was the only restaurant to earn two Michelin Stars.
Michelin also highlighted three restaurants which received a Green Star, which is for restaurants that have “inspired and impressed inspectors with their committed vision for the future of gastronomy.”
Among those was Luminosa in Asheville which was singled out for its “commitment to sourcing local produce and supporting local farmers” and their work to “utilize all trim from their kitchen in sustainable ways.”
