As part of the 10th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, dedicated to “Italian cuisine between health, culture and innovation,” a historical re-enactment dedicated to the figure of Bona Sforza, Grand Duchess of Lithuania and Queen of Poland, and Renaissance cuisine was held at the Italian Embassy in Vilnius.

   
During the event, historian Rasa Leonaviciute-Geceviciene explained the main features of the gastronomy of the time, illustrating the origins and particularities of the Renaissance-inspired dishes offered during the evening.

   
Chef and influencer Gian Luca Demarco then delved into Bona Sforza’s culinary legacy still present in modern Italian cuisine.

   
The evening was opened by the ambassador of Italy in Vilnius, Emanuele de Maigret, who emphasized that the initiative aimed to bring together the themes of health, culture and innovation, enhancing the roots of Italian cuisine through the historical figure of Bona Sforza and her contribution to the dissemination of the Italian food and wine tradition.

   
The event was attended, among others, by Deputy Foreign Minister Taurimas Valys, the directors of some of Lithuania’s leading national museums,institutional representatives of the cultural sector, food and wine professionals, media representatives and some of the country’s leading influencers.

   
The evening was accompanied by interludes of Renaissance music performed by musicians Saulius and Teodoras Lipcius who helped recreate the atmosphere of the era.
