So I spread some Lazy Garlic on the ciabatta and grilled it, along with the cherry tomatoes on a baking tray. Then I mashed avocado and added some olive oil, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl.
Then spread it across when the bread was done and topped it with the tomatoes.
It's great, and I like it. But it is bland. I'm not a fan of hot or spicy but I feel it's missing something… But I don't know what.
Any recommendations?

Balsamic glaze? Pesto?
Lime juice or hot sauce
Everything bagel
I would toss the tomatoes in some basic vinaigrette: vinegar, oil, drop of mustard, salt, pepper, cayenne.
Salt and pepper
Smoked paprika perhaps. Or some lime juice & cilantro.
I find olives or pickles to help!
Garlic salt
Bland = Needs More Salt
i use tomato paste for this
i add old bay and mix it with the avocado whenever i make avocado toast, and also mixing the tomatoes with some herbs (like oregano, thyme, parsley) and olive oil before adding them on top of the toast is really yummy
Some good vinegar or lemon juice, more salt and pepper on top, some nooch. Or a healthy sprinkling of za’atar.
Crispy chilli oil
Za’atar
I’d let the tomatoes cook for longer, they’ll go jammy and burst more and it’s delicous! I love to add balsamic glaze on top too
9/10 times you feel a dish is lacking something, it’s acidity. Give it a lemon squeeze or Tabasco and you are good to go.
balsamic or everything bagel seasoning. yum
I like to mix the avocado with garlic powder, paprika, lemon or lime juice, s&p and if I have, some fresh cilantro. After plating, a drizzle of olive oil.
So many things! Here’s some ideas:
Nutritional yeast
Everything bagel seasoning
Dried onion flakes
Paprika
Chili flakes
Balsamic glaze
I personally find pink Himalayan salt more flavorful too, and cracked black pepper instead.
Tajin might be nice. (I’m not a fan of the fake lime flavor, but it’s very popular)
Olive oil + dried basil + oregano/thyme
Tajin
Basil
Harissa. Or zough (zhug/schug).
Balsamic reduction drizzle, sesame seeds and red chili flakes. TJ Aglio Olio seasoning blend. Furikake
Garlic salt
Salt and pepper.
Nutritional yeast and onions
Lemon or lime juice and chilli flakes!
Garlic crispy onions transforms plain avocado toast.
Lemon pepper
Thousand Island dressing!
I’ll show myself out.
I like adding in some garlic powder, smoked paprika, a little bit of salt and pepper and a touch of white wine vinegar to my smashed avocado. Then fresh basil on top of the tomato, another crack of black pepper and a touch of sea salt.
I do garlic powder and black salt
Sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning and a dash of fresh lemon or lime juice
Add some lime juice and maybe salt to the avocados. That should help. Salting the tomatoes before use can also boost the flavour. Roasting them would be ideal, but takes more effort.
Something pickled, like red onions
Salt, pepper, lime or lemon juice and/or zest, olive oil, toasted garlic, chili crisp/oil, olive oil, sriracha, cilantro, oregano.
Nooch.
Add some Calabrian chili when you mash up the avocado since you like spice! I would also put arugula and lemon juice on top
Tajin, crunchy onions, and siracha
I’d use actual guacamole instead of just mashed avocado. That has enough flavor on it’s own. Maybe sprinkle some kosher salt and a bit of freshly ground pepper over the tomatos as a finish.
A proper guacamole has avocado, red onions (finely diced), a big clove of garlic (finely minced or grated with a zester), chopped tomato, fresh cilantro (finely chopped), about a table spoon of lime juice and salt to taste.
Red pepper flakes
I use umami powder and garlic. It gives the avocado great flavor!
Everything but the bagel seasoning
