Picpoul de Pinet is fast becoming one our favourite French white wines. Fresh and fruity, it fits into the same category as Marlborough sauvignon and albariño. Picpoul is the grape and Pinet is the village in the Languedoc where it is grown. Generally unoaked it goes perfectly with oysters, the other local speciality.
Burgundy has risen in price dramatically over the last few years, making it a special occasion wine. However, the wine below is great value for money and should be snapped up by any Burgundy lover or anyone keen on pinot noir.
