I finally glazed my shrimp cocktail tower and this is what it looks like. I’m doing this because my son’s nickname is Shrimpy and it’s for my first ceramic exhibition that’s happening this weekend and I will be selling some of my stuff. And now it’s finally time to glaze it. I’m glazing all the bowls in red. I’m joking. It’s actually in chrome. I know it’s funny that the glaze looks like red. I just love the metallic look. And now for the hard part. I have 50s something shrimps and I need to paint individually. First a layer of butter yellow and then another layer of orange on top and layering on some brighter orange and red tones. Blending in together to mimic that shrimp look. Adding some yellow shading and highlight of white on top. Don’t forget the red tail. And then repeat it 50s something times. I worked late into the night and I don’t really want to talk about how long this took. For the leaves on top, I want to be a little bit more adventurous. So, I mixed these three glazed together. Never tried this combo before. I might be going a little bit crazy because how long the shrimps took. But are you ready to see the final result? I am speechless. The shrimps look a lot more realistic than I thought. They look so plump and juicy and reflect perfectly on the chrome glaze. Okay, now try to find a meal. 3 2 1. He’s right there climbing his way to the top. I feel like the top part didn’t come out to be exactly what I imagined to be, but I’m so happy with the result that I even did a little photo shoot with my friend Vanessa with this piece. come see it in person this weekend.
