Looking to replace my 2 large slow cookers. Preferably 8+qt, but 7 can work. I currently have an old Ninja Multi-cooker that I have been very happy with and an old traditional Crockpot slow cooker. The Ninja has been making a weird sound, so I’m guessing it’s about to go (have had it for years and used heavily). The Crockpot one had a crack in the insert, so I put an insert in from the one I had prior that died. It’s even older than the Ninja. With Black Friday coming up, I want to just go ahead and replace them.

I plan to replace the Ninja with the 8.5qt Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker Pro. I like the convenience of searing then slow cooking in the same device. Unless anyone has any major negatives about it? Or something you would recommend instead?

I was looking to replace my large Crockpot with a similar more simple crock pot. I was looking at the Green Pan 8qt. Walmart already has a great price on it. Or the 7qt Crockpot slow cooker with sous vide Model #: 2176658. It seems similar to the crockpot one that I already have. Also considered the Crockpot 8qt. Don’t like that you can’t lock the lid down, but not a complete deal breaker. Also, I haven’t seen the best reviews in that one on some sites.

Open to any other suggestions and recommendations as well. Thanks in advance!

I have the 8qt Crockpot (no extra features, just low/high/warm settings) and I have zero complaints about it. Works great, simple to use, fairly light and easy to store. It doesn’t have a locking lid or searing function, but I’ve never found the searing on slow cookers/pressure cookers to work very well anyways. Searing in an enamel pan just isn’t ideal. I’ve just accepted I’ll have to dirty one additional pan if I want the meat browned before going in the pot!

  2. I have #3 and the doubling as a sous vide is sick

I kinda feel like slow cookers are a commodity item at this point. They’re all basically the same so just get one that meets your requirements.

  4. I would go with a basic Hamilton Beach. They are the workhorses of slow cookers and last forever.

I’ve got the last 8 qt large crockpot pictured in stainless. Purchased that one several years ago mainly due to specific height and width limitations on my kitchen closet storage area.

Works pretty well, but has two issues. It gets too hot IMO for a slow cooker, almost everything I have to cook on the lowest “warm” setting because even on the standard low setting contents will boil. Second issue is the lid design, the rolled metal across the edges can trap liquid & food debris if you have a pretty full pot and takes some specific attention when cleaning. Other than those items has been a workhorse with weekly use.

I went with a Hamilton Beach when I needed to replace mine. America’s Test kitchen did a lot of reviews for the leading brands and HB’s was better at heating more evenly. And I love that the model I chose can move from my stovetop for searing to the base for slow cooking and still be dishwasher safe. I think the GreenPan was their 3rd place.

I have the air fryer + slow cooker + pressure cooker combo and I have almost entirely stopped needing an oven.

None of the above, go old school, mechanical rotary dial, less to go wrong, what’s the enemy of electronics? Heat, and moisture, what’s in a slow cooker?…

I have the ninja and pretty satisfied with that. I’m considering the Crockpot with sous vide for an additional large capacity. One.

  10. I hate the Ninja name because it sounds so cheezy but I have their large slow cooker and it has served us well. I’ll stay with it until it dies and then I’m probaby going back to a multi purpose pot.
