Third plant for reference.

All 3 were doing alright, 3rd one was actually doing kind of crap and a bit shorter than the others. There was 3 really hot days and I wasn't home, came back and half the leaves had fallen off both plants. They otherwise looked ok and most the leaves even didn't look particularly bad. The remaining leaves fell off the next day and since then they haven't regrown.

I'm unsure whether they're alive or not because even with regular watering and monitoring no new growth has occured. But the chillis on the first one has continued to ripen over the last 2 weeks which makes me think they are alive.

I don't know how they died so suddenly and the crappiest one survived. My best bet it is got a little shade from the other 2. Really hoping I can recover them because this is like 6 months worth of work.

Since third is reference I will unfortunatey call your first two picture as gonners. Browning of the stem is not a good sign.

Chilis will ripen on the counter to a degree, that’s no indicator of life.

That soil looks so soggy, I imagine it’s root rot that killed your plants.

Are you watering deeply, letting it run off, dumping anything that comes out, are shallow misting?

Had those same pots growing in Sydney. They dry out way too quickly lost almost all my plants. Try 300mm plastic pots with suger cane mulch on top of soil

Well good news is they are not reapers. Rip.

I’d cut at the browning stem near the bottom to see if there’s any green left. Might grow more branches if there is and keep it inside for now near a sunny window. If it’s alive I’d repot just incase for nutrient depletion. Is it soft like mush?

Might be time to plant the seeds from it’s peppers If it’s dead dead. Last i saw a pepper plant like this was due to frost.

I’d further investigate what caused the plant to be in that condition first. Is there any air gaps underneath the pot for water to flow out of properly? I’ve had a pot like yours similar but completely flat on the bottom. Wouldn’t let it drain properly so had to put rubber pads on the bottom to lift it. You might find more info if you take a look at the soil/roots
