Couldn’t find another appropriate sub. So posting here. We know it’s just horseradish paste. But sometimes this is all we have access to in a pinch.

S&B 3/3 stars – has chunks. Closest thing to restaurant-mixed wasabi paste. Which still isn’t the real thing. But better than nothing.

Ottogi 1/3 stars – garbage. Tastes awful. Would not buy again.

House brand 2/3 stars – very similar to S&B but saltier and more liquid and saucelike.

Im a fan of S&Bs. I also use it in recipes calling for a bit of horseradish because it seems to retain better than horseradish does.

Kizami is more widely available now. Usually in the refrigerated or freezer section of your local Asian grocery (HMart, 99 Ranch).

It’s what I prefer now over these tubes. I may mix in some of the tube to get more of the horseradish spice… But the pickled wasabi is superior in my opinion.

if you want restaurant “wasabi”, get the s&b powder in the black bag and add water. Super cheap and the bag lasts ages

S&B lowkey hits hard. It’s my go-to quality pick

S&B Premium is the best tube wasabi imo, far better than their other versions

I mix this with grated radish to somewhat mimick fresh wasabi

S&B is probably the best for horseradish wasabi and it’s pretty good. People will complain about not being “real” wasabi as if you’ll buy the root and tool but in reality is so mild compared to the horseradish that you might not even like the true wasabi as much. I certainly don’t.
