There is a new Italian and seafood restaurant opening in Cleethorpes – and “That’s Amore!” From Monday there will be a unique venue serving seafood and perfect Italian food, thanks to owner, Savas Guney.
Amore is on the first floor of Tale of Two on Alexandra Road, Cleethorpes and caters for around 100 guests – enjoying a spectacular view of the seafront and The River Humber. Savas bears a striking resemblance to singer Dean Martin, who made the song “That’s Amore” famous in the 1950s.
“Amore means love in Italian and I love cooking and have such a passion for it,” told Savas. He aims to build on his 17 years experience cooking and serving quality meals in Louth where he ran Via Italia.
“Love and passion are the essential ingredients for cooking and I have a love for this job. If I don’t see a smile on the face of the staff of a restaurant, the chef or the owner, I leave. That’s because we always cook with a passion and serve with a passion,” the new owner told Grimsby Live.
He will employ eight staff at the upstairs venue. “There is Tale of Two downstairs which is a wine and cocktail bar and upstairs we have Amore. I think they are a good match,” they owner said.

The main suite caters for 70 guests, with a bar and dining area for around 10 to 15 and a private room for about 20. It will be used mainly for celebration events, including anniversaries, works events and retirement parties.
Savas aims to also offer the venue for weddings. “Amore Italian and seafood will be unique in this area because there isn’t a speciality seafood restaurant anywhere around. We will serve pan-fried fish and grilled fish and everything is fresh and will be from Grimsby.
“It is all about freshness. I trust what I do and once people come and taste it we hope they will come back. I have no doubt they will.
“We will also have special wines to go with fish or the other meals and it is wine which you don’t usually get at supermarkets for example,” he said. He will be joined in the kitchen by Ali Alkan, chef from The Magic Flame take-away in Grant Street, Cleethorpes.

They are busy putting the finishing touches to Amore with Mediterranean artwork to compliment the stunning riverside views. They are keeping up the tradition of fine Italian restaurants in Cleethorpes which reached a peak when the Cataffo brothers Vito and Mario opened The Italian Affair in Cleethorpes and later The Via Italia in Louth in the Nineties.
“It has taken us three weeks from taking it on to having it ready for our first day on Monday and that has been our mission,” he said. Amore will be open seven days-a-week from noon to 10pm and bookings are advised on 01472 400400 or on Instagram at amore_italian_and_seafood
