We’ve got here in our hands a little copycat that we’ve been dying to do for some time. That’s right. This is the Taco Bell chili cheese dog. Burrito. Chili cheese dog. Chili cheese burrito. Copycat. You want to see how we knock this out of the griddle? Stick around while we dig in. I can’t believe the wall twins. They’re right there. That’s one of them. That’s the other one. I’m the other one. All right. It’s still a little bit hot. So, we’re going to talk about it. Talk about how we did this one. Listen, the chili cheese burrito. It is one of those Y2K favorites back at Taco Bell. Uh something we never ate when we were younger, but man, it’s been hyped. We keep seeing it all over all over the place. We’ve also seen a lot of people knock out copycats. Yes. Exactly. Right. And people apparently are kind of disappointed with the new one since they brought it back. They said it was better back in the day. But the copycats we’ve seen are people saying, “I’ve actually recreated it. This is exactly how I remember it. And now if it ever goes away, I know how to make it.” And a couple of things we’ll talk about as we go through the process. You’ll notice if you’re a big huge chili cheese burrito fan, you’ll see we don’t have reffried beans, no tomato paste, no onions, but we did a twist learning from a couple other people and no beans. You know why? Let’s be honest. How many times we do a chili cooks using beans and how many people say chili doesn’t have beans. That said, Brett, let’s talk about it. We got the groceries. We had this 8020 ground beef. And then what else? So, we got the 8020 ground beef. We got this Mexican blend of cheese. We’ve got chili powder, Taco Bell’s seasoning. That is key. and these burrito shells. And also, uh, we’ve got some Taco Bell mild sauce just in case we want to try and put them on. So, real quick, Brett, toss the meat on and and brown it. And, you know, we always like this doing this on the grill. Now, a lot of people had would boil it or or steam the meat like Taco Bell to get the get it really, really refined. We found just chopping it right here on the griddle works for us. Yep. Finished that, got it browned, and then it was time to drain that grease. Yeah, we drained it just a little bit, as you can see. We moved it off to the right side and uh got it ready. Uh, got rid of the most of the grease, about 90% of the grease. brought it back over and it was time to put the seasoning in. Now, because we did just one pound of beef, we used one packet of the Taco Bell seasoning and then about a tablespoon and a quarter of this McCormix chili powder. Right. And it Brett, it was really interesting. It started to look very dry to me and that’s when I remembered, hey, wait a minute. We need to add water. Add water. So, we went and Brett grabbed about two cups of water. Yep. And I added about one cup. I was going to say, great. Yeah, we just added about one cup of water to this and it got a really good consistency. I got to say, I had a sneak taste of the meat packed with flavor. Now, we turned the griddle off a little bit preemptively. So, the griddle got a little bit cool. So, the cheese is mostly melted. Not entirely melted, but we laid a ton of cheese on as then it was time to build these, right? So, you laid the the meat. Yeah. We took a tortilla. I got the burrito tortilla. Yeah. Meat. And then a handful of cheese and we rolled them. That’s how easy these burritos are. And here we are at this moment. That’s like brings us to this. In fact, we say it look amazing. This looks absolutely amazing. Taco Bell. Like we said, I guarantee you more meat than Taco Bell puts in. Like we say, it can smell amazing. Um, we haven’t mentioned it. Can I get a smell yet? Smell. Yeah, you can. It smells like Taco Bell, but I can smell that chili. So great. It’s delicious. But if it doesn’t taste amazing, this is all for not. Cheers. I’ll eat to that, my brother. Oh. M. Oh my gosh. That’s crazy. It’s crazy the amount of flour flavor. I will say this, the original calls for mixed with reffried beans. I think personally I would like reffried beans in this cuz I love the reffried beans. I could see how it would enhance this, but the flavor is so good. The only thing I want I would add some of their nacho cheese in here and maybe some sour cream. They people have been putting sour cream in them. And I want to try grab that mild sauce. Let’s try it with the mild sauce. 100%. Our mom used to make burritos growing up. Mhm. This is reminiscent to me of those burritos that she used to make. Yeah. So simple. She would do half with olives in them. Mhm. I love the ones with olives in them. I and half with not I did not like the olives. Still don’t. That that is what this reminds me of. Now these are super greasy. I’m going to put a little bit of that sauce on here. It was not my intent to eat my whole half here, but here we are. Oh my gosh, that’s great. You followed our channel for any amount of time, you know, we really do like Taco Bell. Mhm. And it is getting dark here in the uh Brett’s uh Brickyard Beastro here, so we’ll try to wrap it up a little bit. But um we love Taco Bell. And this is another banger. The added chili is so good. It’s like I can taste the Taco Bell, but that extra chili, it gives it a different a different dimension. I don’t want to say like a smokiness. Like there’s heat that’s there, but it’s not too spicy. You’re not stuck in your face. Yeah, it’s it’s it’s a welcoming heat. Man, I love that we came and did this one. If you enjoyed this video, if it gave an idea of something else that you can cook on your griddle, make sure and give the video a thumbs up. We really do appreciate it. It’s one way in which you can support us in what we do. Another way you can support us is by purchasing one of our two cookbooks, the Epic Outdoor Griddle Cookbook or Smashed. Both are available on Amazon or anywhere books are sold. For those of you that stuck it out with us, you know how much we really do appreciate it. Please also include in your comment chili cheese. Yes, please again. Why are these so silly silly? That’s it. But we know that you for sticking around, man. I love that we get to come and do this. Aside from coming and knocking out another copycat banger, another Taco Bell like find another two copycat. Exactly. Why else do we do all this? Cuz when you’re at the wall twins, you’re family. All chilli in Texas has beans..
Awesome!
Outstanding! Now I have to drive down the mountain to the closest Taco Bell tomorrow. lol
Excellent guys cheers 🥂 😊
Let’s give them something to taco about
"Chili cheese, yes please" Those look incredible. Love that you ate the whole half. Gonna add this one to "my things to make" list. Great job guys!
Chili cheese, yes, please.🎉😂
Looks great. The "original" original was Zantigo Chilito! Then Taco Bell came and replaced them with a slightly less exciting version.
But I still buy them occasionally to get my fix. Can't wait to try this on the griddle!
Chili cheese? Yes please!
Smell yea – Taco Bell chili cheese (Dog) burrito.
Chili cheeeeeze, yes pleeeeze.
Chili cheese yes please, good job, love you guys. (I would like to see the bellbeefer recreated.) Taco Bell beef on a hamburger bun.
Chili cheese, yes please!!
One of my favorite menu items!!
Oh my gosh you guys, I had totally forgotten about this burrito. I absolutely loved this thing back in the day!! Avoid fast food at almost all costs, (and damn does it cost) at this point in my life but definitely gonna do this. Thank you so much 🎉
Just picked up smashed from amazon 🤘
Just started watching y’all again. Love the channel!!!
Chili Ceese Yes Please, back in the day it was called the Chilito (Chili cheese burrito) was my favorite taco bell item.
Brethren! After watching this video, I am definitely craving this. Chili Cheese, yes please! Stay true family and griddle on!
Taco Bell used to have a variation of this called the Frito Burrito. The Fritos made the burrito crunchy. It was my favorite thing there. You should give it a try.
I like it. May I suggest one thing? After you wrap it, place the burrito on the Griddle, to give it a little fry on each side and will also finish the melt on the cheese. My 2 cents. Love your videos.
Cheli Chees yes please
Might be good, but this is nothing like the original. Basically just a taco in a burrito shell. The original was more like a sauce with the meat minced into almost a purée
The original did not have refried beans in it. Just the chili and cheese. It was originally called the Chilito, at a cool .79 cents in my area in the early-mid 90s.
what useless people these guys are. At least they will be dead by age 40.
Chili does have beans, "Texas chili" doesn't! For that matter, I think a Burrito has bean, otherwise it is just a wrap.
Great video! First time I went to Taco Bell the menu was .19 cent taco, burrito, tostada, or a cup of freoles(refried beans) and cheese. The Bellbeefer was .29 cents. McDonald’s had .14 cent burger .14 cent fries and a cheeseburger was .19 cents Wow I’m old! Cheers!
Love your copycats, because it's just TOO EXPENSIVE mostly to eat out at fast food or restaurants anymore. We have quit going and are cooking at home. Chili cheese, yes please!!
Chili, Onions, and Shredded Cheddar
You guys are awesome!
Galley Gourmet with jay here!
My recipe is quick and easy. One can of wolf brand beanless chili. Shredded cheddar cheese and xlg tortillas. Microwave for 1 minute. Taste exactly the same as Taco bell.
I used to love the original Taco Bell chilito. Definitely had just meat and cheese. Looks like a simple thing to prepare and you guys did a great job. I just may have to give this a try.
Chilli cheese YES please! Thanks for posting this, I’m definitely a fan of these and glad to see them back on the menu.
CCB has always been available near me in Cincinnati, I didn't know it was a regional thing until about ten years ago.
Edit: I'm pretty sure they called it a Chilito in the early 90s.
Edit to the edit: dip a chili cheese burrito in the creamy jalapeno sauce at Taco Bell.
If you cannot make a burrito better than Taco Bell, you should not be making anything….
