The event dedicated to wine and vineyards, which usually receives thousands of visitors in the city in the Évora district, will be held until the 16th, in the events pavilion, with free admission, mainly to promote Alentejo wines, with the participation of producers presenting their brands for tasting and sale.
The festival, to be inaugurated at 10am on Tuesday, serves as a presentation of the new wine from local producers for Saint Martin’s Day and, according to the municipality, “plenty of entertainment and conviviality is guaranteed” during the six days.
According to the organization, the event, which is part of the 2025 Wine City program, aims to contribute to the development of the municipality and the region, offering visitors a program of entertainment, gastronomy, wine tasting, regional products, and handicrafts.
The 2025 Wine City is a title shared by the municipalities of Borba, Estremoz, Redondo, Vila Viçosa, and Alandroal, all in the Évora district, with the motto “Wines of Serra d’Ossa – Identity and Future – Brands that leave History!”.
Musical shows, street entertainment, Alentejo singing, dance, the Regional Alentejo Shepherd Dog Competition, a technical colloquium, folklore, sporting activities, and fireworks are some of the event’s attractions.
The musical program, with free admission, is one of the highlights and includes performances by the group Adiafa on Tuesday, Monday the following day, fado singers from the municipality and Marco Rodrigues on the 13th, Nelson Freitas (14th), Vizinhos (15th), with the closing act by the group Sons do Minho on the 16th.
The program also includes DJ sets, the São Martinho festival on opening day from 6:00 PM, the tavern circuit on the 15th from 11:00 AM, enlivened by the groups Garridos and Fora d’Horas, and the “From the Vineyard to the Tavern” procession on closing day at 2:00 PM.
The festival is organized by the municipality, together with the Alentejo and Ribatejo Regional Tourism Authority, the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA) and the Alentejo Winegrowers’ Technical Association (ATEVA).
