I did the same, 5 years ago. I changed the hardware to stainless, repainted the stand and base, put a new gasket, cleaned and seasoned the cast iron cap, and got a new handle. Looked brand new.

Nice! It’s in the holder backwards, the cross bar is meant to support the weight of the top when open.
Best thighs of your life – odobo seasoning, cook indirect at 400* for 20 minutes. Flip, continue cooking until IT is 200*. Enjoy, crispy skin and rendered, wing like meat.
