So, came across an article about the importance of nitrogen to pepper heat levels and yields and decided to try it out. My earlier Primos were very, very hot, but tolerable. Tried this very pepper this morning, cut of a generous piece, and got punched in the face. My stomach reversed course and what went down returned the same route thirty minutes later. Absolutely dripping capsaicin when cut open and that should have been enough of a warning. I sample all peppers in saving for seeds and will continue this practice, but the experience certainly sucked and I have a pretty good heat tolerance.

How did you implement whatever you learned? Did this change the type of fertilizer you used? Please share more.

Please elaborate. What about N? Can you give us a little more about what the article said?

This was my first red reaper on my plant. This is also my first harvested pepper and the first time trying a sliver of it fresh. I cut it in half and took a small sliver off the stinger area. It was warm and made my tongue/mouth numb. I thought to myself that’s nice and not too bad. About an hour later, I tried another piece that was the length of the pepper but narrow. DUDE…I thought my tongue melted. I love hot and rarely have to go to the milk but this one got me. 24 hours later, I’m feeling it on the other side.
