This is a pine cone, the reproductive organ of pine trees that protects their seeds inside. The female cones are scaly, while the male ones are shaped like tiny cylinders. Hidden inside these cones are edible pine nuts, small yet loaded with nutrients like vitamin B1, vitamin K, magnesium, phosphorus, and zinc. Once shelled, the pine nuts are gently roasted to release their aroma. Then they’re ground into a soft paste, mixed with flour, and shaped into small rounds. Each piece is pressed flat and baked until golden. The result, a fragrant, nutty cookie that melts in your mouth. Simple, healthy, and full of forest flavor. Perfect for a calm afternoon tea. 1. I’m afraid this recipe is woefully lacking in accurate ingredients for the baking the actual pine nut cookie. 🫤

  2. Yes! Hopefully, I will soon have the time to go home to the mountainous province I was born in where pine trees are in abundance.

  3. Somehow I can't picture how that would taste, I keep thinking of how the squirrels and birds wrestle with the pine cones to get the seeds. The smell of bird seed or the pet store comes to mind when I think about those cookies.

  4. We grow wheat and peanuts and other things. We don't grow Alpine trees. Alpine forests are in Muree. Plenty of them. So in order to make cookies first i need to have pine fruit. The raw material is unavailable. So enjoy your cookies alone. Meanwhile i ask my friend to arrange pine cones for me. I have to smuggle it without being caught by the forest guards. It's not easy for squirrels to arrange their food these days.

  5. I've made pine nut cookies, with roasted pine nuts ground to flour, but they were sweetened with honey and flavored with orange zest.

  6. De-shelling all those nuts isn't easy work, my guy. The process to make the cookies is pretty long, but thanks for sharing this anyways.
