

I had to do a double-take when I saw the price tag. A bunch of thick juicy ribeyes that were nearly 1lb each at Safeway being mislabeled as a "Beef Back Rib" that was on sale. It was around 8pm too so I think they just put them out. You can bet your ass I bought all 6 of them off the rack. 2nd photo shows how thick they were. Cha-chinggg

Those are fairly lean. Treat them with some care

Eh the label of the type is wrong but those are low grade super lean and the price per lb seems fair for that quality even if it was labeled ribeye
Those are not the best looking ribeyes but they sure are some good $7.99/lb ribeyes.

There’s two potential reasons for this.
1. Pure mistake
2. Insider wants some steaks

Nice! Every now and then I will catch something like that at my local store. They mislabeled some parmigiano reggiano once and I got a few nice chunks of it for like $3 a piece. Same thing happened another time where they mislabeled tenderloin as sirloin or something. I paid like 7 or 8 dollars a pound for certified angus beef tenderloin.
I would make some cheesesteaks out of them.
These were a store employee hoping to swoop them at the end of the night.
Marbling isn’t great, but for that price, I hope you cleaned house!

Though lean, I know how to smoke and then sear in smoked tallow to make them taste great. I hope you are able to make them great too!
I’d hit it. Might even make stew with some of it.
