I went to a newly opened target near my work last week and found a deal I couldn’t pass up, 209.99!!! It was the only machine available and I couldn’t believe it. I’d had my eye on the barista express for a long time and had been having a hard time justifying a 700.00 purchase given some upcoming non-negotiable expenses, and was planning for Black Friday to pull the trigger. Picture of barcode and machine immediately after unboxing. This is an upgrade from a lackluster performing kitchenaid kes6403 that had been gifted to me a while back.

They are great little machines when they work. We had two of these in an office and after heavy use they all started leaking from the porta filter seal. We initially thought it was the wrong seals we bought but turns out this is a common issue and some internal screws get loose over time that hold together the whole brew head and porta filter locking mechanism.
To get to those screws you need to basically do a full disassembly of the machine. After doing that on two machines I hate this machine like no other.

Well done. I was about to pull the trigger on this for $400 a few years ago, but I let your subreddit talk me into a separate grinder and machine. I wound up with a DF64 and a Gaggia Classic Pro, so I ain’t mad.

For reference, that’s less than what I paid Breville to fix the solenoid on my Barista Express when I sent it in for repair. Insane deal!

That’s damn amazing!! You’re gonna love it; I’ve had mine for five years and use it every day. Take care of it and do proper maintenance and it’ll be a powerhorse. I make better lattes than a coffee shop now ❤️ My only regret is I got the stainless and not this black version haha.
