
Got these for chili.. post was removed in food safety for some reason. Thought I’d try here?
Just bought a case of canned tomatoes from Sam’s Club and opened it to put them in the pantry. Most of them look like they have minor surface rust, but some of them have these little speck things under the top rim. I don’t know if it is rust or some type of adhesive or if it is fine or to return/toss.
I have a bit of food anxiety as it is, but I swear I always wind up with weird packaging! It seems lately 90% of canned goods I get (usually do pickup or delivery due to life circumstances) have rusty or dented seams.

Above the non gmo label thing. They look like yellow seeds.
Glue. As long as the tomatoes look fine, smell fine.
It’s the adhesive used to seal the lids fully. Safe and normal.
