  1. I would prefer it if Jamie was allowed to go along with all the double entendre. Claudia was 'up' for it.

  2. Jamie, call that anything but naan. Please don’t ruin my cuisine, you’re far too brilliant to not get the technique right.

  3. Bread or naan. Don’t call it naan bread. It’s like say bread bread. Don’t get me started on chai tea.

  4. "It's nothing like the real one"… then why would we even bother or waste our time on it???! jeez, if you are not going to make something that is similar to real Naan, then dont even present such a thing with the label of "Naan".

  5. Where is the naan? I have watched the video but did not see anything that remotely resembles naan. There are some roundish thick blocks of cooked flour though. Is that supposed to be the naan?

  6. As someone who’s been cooking for myself since I was a teenager, I get why people like Jamie’s quick “cheat” recipes not everyone has the time or energy for traditional prep. But there’s a line between making something accessible and just making it TV-friendly.

This naan is a perfect example. It looks fine, but it’s not real naan not in texture, not in flavor, not in method. Authentic naan is alive it’s yeast, rest, heat, and patience. It’s not meant to be a three-minute side project. The self-raising flour shortcut removes the depth, and the “sponginess” he talks about isn’t the same as that soft-chewy balance you get from a proper dough cooked hot and fast.

Jamie’s great at presentation and energy, but he’s more of a media chef than a real cook these days his recipes are built to trend, not to teach. He simplifies culture into bite-sized entertainment. And yeah, that works on TV, but for people who actually cook, it’s frustrating to see authentic dishes reduced to gimmicks.

I’m not against shortcuts I make my own simplified meals all the time but I own it. I call them what they are: “my version,” not “the real thing.” Food deserves honesty. Culture deserves respect.

  7. The bicarbonate of soda in the self raising will reaction with the yogurt when heat is applied giving the rise in the bread. This is the basis for Irish soda bread but you normally use buttermilk rather than yogurt.

  8. Definitely not a naan as any self respecting south Asian would know & also looks undercooked from inside

  9. I'm here after watching you butcher South East Asian food from Uncle Roger's channel.

Jamie, seriously, are you even a qualified chef? 🤔

  10. Can’t believe people still fall for this joker. If you want to learn to make a Naan, choose an Indian chef. Indeed if you want to learn how to make almost any dish properly, look anywhere but Jamie and his cheap-eats/short-cuts/ruin-a-classic and ‘stick it in your gob’ patter. The planet is so full of sheep.
