I’m vegan (13 years) and wanted to use the leftover chicken bones from my roommate for stock for the kitty and him, cause unflavored stock is expensive for cats and I don’t wanna waste.
Am I doing this right? Small bowl has skin idk if I should just toss
Currently skimming the scum off the top but it’s very yellow and I don’t know if the fat is too high

You can refrigerate it overnight and the fat will solidify and rise to the top allowing you to scoop it out and have less greasy stock
Yea looks great, if it’s going to cats don’t salt it, the human can add salt later if they want.
I usually boil the bones first for like 5-10 minutes and then toss the water which gets rid of the most the scum. After I make the stock and it cools and I just put it in the fridge and the fat will just solidify at the top which makes it very easy to get rid of.
Bigger pot
That’s a pretty nice pot, but far too small for this. Get one of those cheap giant metal ones, so that you aren’t overflowing the fillers. You can get WAY more stock that way too.
i put the skin in the pot for human use. the skin is usually seasoned, so I would leave it out for the cat.
This is a Crockpot sub, but your dutch oven is WAY too full.
