The renowned VDP winery Heymann-Löwenstein***** in Winningen has been sold. The new owners are Stuttgart wine merchant Jochen Heigoldt, founder and CEO of Vioneers, as well as two unnamed family companies. Estate founder Reinhard Löwenstein will hand over the management in January 2026 to Thomas Dörr, previously sales manager at the VDP winery Dr. Bürklin-Wolf (Pfalz). According to the new owners, they combine “many years of industry experience and a large international network.”.

“We hand over our life’s work with pride and trust,” explains Reinhard Löwenstein. “It was important to us that our winery comes into the hands of people who share the same passion for wine, terroir, and quality. With Thomas Dörr and Jochen Heigoldt, we have found the ideal successors.” Löwenstein will support the new team in an advisory capacity, and the existing staff team is to be retained. Daughter Sarah will pursue other career paths.

Löwenstein is considered a pioneer of modern Riesling and has also made dry wines from the Mosel internationally known. Together with his wife Cornelia and daughter Sarah, he brought Heymann-Löwenstein to the top of the German wine scene.
