Hi, I’m confused by the calories/kilojoule count on a packet of noodles. Please help me understand if it is incorrect or I am missing something.
I’ve attached photos of two noodle packets from different brands. The blue one has a quarter of the kilojoules compared to the grey one. This seems impossible, the only difference is the blue does not have eggs. Still the blue one has 20g of carbs per 100g and 4g of protein per 100g. Where’s the rest of the weight coming from? Doesn’t make sense to be water.

My honest guess is that one is using the calories of raw uncooked pasta and the other one is cooked.
Makes me happy that I live in Europe, where we don’t have this serving and cooked calories BS.
My guess is the kj in the first picture is correct, but it should be kcal in the second picture instead of kj. That way their calories would be similar.
The one that includes egg has 18g of protein and 6g fat, which is a massive difference from the egg free one. I’d say there’s your answer. Eggs.
I do love that the “No egg” noodles also “may contain traces of egg” 😅
If calories are the most important metric to you, I’d stick to that one, but with the extra protein, the other noodles are still a pretty good choice.
If you share the specific brand/products, we can do a little more sleuthing to see if there’s any error on the label
