Hey all, looking to join the KJ family!

What kind of maintenance must I do in order to get started on using my KJ? I know I have to do the clean burn, but should I also clean the grease trap before that? Also is it cool if my deck has leaves on it? Worried if an ember flies out.

    You are pretty dang clean chunk the cast iron ash plate and get a charcoal basket off of amazon. Take the thermometer off the grill toss in lump cook a steak then open up the top and bottom vent all the way let it rip for 20 to 30 minutes. Close it down. That’s it you are done!
