Visited Obelix for a Sunday brunch with friends last month, first time visiting the neighborhood restaurant for all of us. Had a 12PM reservation, waited 15 minutes to be seated at a table along the windows. Restaurant was already full.

The vibe was modern with an angled ceiling, full walls of windows framing a large chalkboard menu and industrial chic surroundings. Only gripe was the amount of dust and cobwebs in the ceiling and on light fixtures, so best not to look up, overall vibe was 8/10.

Food: Waiter shared a copy of the specials on the menu, but only 2 of the 4 were available, a bit disappointed that half the items were already sold out. Picked out one of the daily specials: Chai and Espresso Pastry (yum), shared the Salad Lyonnaise Canard (crowd favorite by far, duck was fantastic), and had mains including: French Toast with berry compote and mascarpone cream (very solid), Lamb Neck Poutine (a nice twist on a classic), and Quiche (extremely light, maybe steamed?). Overall the food was 9/10.

Service: Water was immediately brought to the table and all servers were highly friendly and always referred to us as "friends." Two small negatives for the price point – one of us was given an absolutely mangled fork that should have been caught, and one member ordered a tea and had to chase someone down for cream or sugar to go with it, overall service was 7/10.

Overall pricing and value: 7/10.

Would be interested in going back to check out the dinner menu, and would recommend brunch for those looking for a new place in River North.
