Not technically a tragedeigh, but how does this sub think this name would go over?

…and sardine is a broad name for a variety of small, oily, fish. This kid is going to have the worst acne

Your baby is salty about their mothers choice in a name…

That poor kid. School is going to be very rough for him/her.

Marlin would have been less humiliating, but we’re not dealing with a deep thinker.

  5. I’m extremely liberal with naming. I think anything can be a name. Go ahead.

I also think it’s pretty dumb to name your child after tinned oily fish. Naming someone after an everyday noun is going to incur a conversation each time and make people try to divine the meaning.

And the reason they give is BS even if they want to talk about determined fish swimming against the current and small but powerful and salty. There’s a lot more fish out there that sound better than a canned food product.

But that’s just me! You’re free to do whatever.

They should have kept it as maybe a term of endearment (“my little sardine” sounds pretty cute) instead of naming the whole kid that 💀

  7. That’s a lot of text for “im egoistic and don’t care if my child will get bullied”

Sardines don’t even swim against the current

Meet my baby. Their name is Honey Badger.

This is just a run of the mill tragedy.

I mean, I could almost see it if it was a girl and you named her Sardinia, like the island, which is named after sardines….wait, even that is maybe too much.

Salmon swim up rivers to return to their spawning grounds. It’s an awe inspiring journey to return home. All of that is worthy of admiration but if you name your child Salmon they are going to have a rough time

I don’t consider babies a nutritious protein source. I’m just built different.

My cat’s name is Sardine, but not my child.

“Sardi” isn’t a bad derivation of that name. There’s a famous NYC restaurant call that.

I think this is satire, especially with that last line “ ask yourself why a baby named after nutritious protein source has you so pressed.” Either way, I’m gonna go open a can for breakfast.

I went to school with a girl called Jardine.
