I don’t know, man. I am hoping I can eek a couple of more years out of this guy.
Background: I had bought this Silverton at Costco in 2019. The sales guy told me all I needed to do was scrape the grills, and vacuum it out every season.

Well, turned out that was horsepucky.

So now I’m looking at this guy falling apart at 6 years and 4 months old. That does bring the cost down to less than $10/mo for the duration so ok fine. I can live with my own failure as a grill owner and will do better the next time.

A friend of mine (who originally sold me on the Traeger) said if he was to do it again he’d get a Silverback grill instead. Considering all options. I’ve really liked the Traeger aside from the inside parts disintegrating. Are new ones made better than this? Clearly I should have been foiling my drip tray, and I’m not sure how the drip funnel could have been saved more. Same with the sidewall that is falling apart.

Thoughts?

Hey! It looks like you posted an image!

If this is a photo of one of your cooks, maybe share the recipe and techniques
used, as it’s almost guaranteed one of the first questions you will be asked!

    *What seasoning did you use?

*How long did you cook it, and at what temperature?

*Did you use any special tricks or techniques?

    Traeger on!

Question: Do you live near the Ocean? Or an area that has a high amount of humidity? I’m shocked at the level of corrosion apparent on a 7 year old grill.

I’m unclear as to why it’s rusted out like that inside. I’ve had mine for almost 5 years and it’s in great shape. I’ve vacuumed it out every 5-7 cooks, scraped the grills, cleaned out the grease trap. Normal maintenance, nothing crazy. So, maybe they are making them better now? This is a huge bummer. I’m sorry my man.

What did you scrape the grill with? And did you use a harsh chemical cleaner?

Looks like it’s time for a new smoker. That erosion is next level

Bro you passed the crossroads a few years back. Holy
Shit. Buy a Recteq and you’ll never look back

I sure hope that crossroad wasnt a 4 way stop since you blew right through that

if you are seriously going to try and run that for a few years keep it very far from your house or structures
