I think you’ve misunderstood a key element of grilled cheese

Open faced grilled cheese. We ate those as kids. Slice of tomato or bacon

  6. The confusion may be in the word “grilled” if OP is from the UK? Over here, to “grill” something means to put it under a grill (the heating element you get at the top of the oven that can toast stuff).

The “grilled cheeses” in this sub are fried in a pan, not toasted under a grill.

To a UK ear, the term “grilled cheese” could sound like it should be synonymous with cheese on toast or a cheese toastie.

The only reason I know it’s not, is because I played sims.

    Edit: corrected to cheese toastie.
