Italy’s culinary heritage and gastronomic excellence are being celebrated during a Week of Italian Cuisine in Malta, being marked with a number of events. These include:
November 18: An event at the Italian Cultural Institute, organised by the Italian Embassy and the Accademia Italiana della Cucina in Malta, which will be open to the public upon registration and which will explore Italy’s rich tradition of food preservation and culinary heritage.
November 19: The Italian Trade Agency and Italian Embassy, in collaboration with Casa Artusi and the Institute of Tourism Studies, will host a culinary masterclass featuring chef Luca Malacrida of Casa Artusi. Malacrida will demonstrate to ITS students how to highlight ‘Made in Italy’ excellence through authentic recipes featuring Parmigiano Reggiano and the traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena. Following the masterclass, eight students will compete in a cooking challenge, recreating the dish demonstrated earlier, under the supervision of an expert jury chaired by the president of the Accademia Italiana della Cucina.
November 20: Luca Malacrida will be featured live on TVM at 12.30pm, where he will prepare an Italian recipe, using authentic Italian culinary techniques and high-quality ingredients. Later in the evening, at 6.30pm, there will be a business networking aperitif by invitation, offering the chance to connect and explore business opportunities in the food and hospitality sectors.
Moreover, during the week, the COMITES (Comitato degli Italiani all’estero), together with the Camera di Commercio italiana a Malta and many Italian restaurants, will organise various initiatives related to the Week of Italian Cuisine.
