This is great. Medium body, opaque ruby color with medium acidity. Well integrated tannins after an hour or so of decanting – this wine is extremely balanced. There's a touch of oak influence with some five spice but overall it is fruit forward. Lots of raspberry, plum, and cocoa with a little bit of lavender in the background. Great quality for the price and something I would definitely drink again!

Really enjoyed going to Te Mata on my trip to Hawkes Bay. Craggy Range is also great down there but I fell in love with Elephant Hill. I feel like the vineyard being right on the coast gives it such a different but interesting feel to the other Syrahs down there.
