Hi folks. A quick question. This is my big Joe 2. Literally giving her a good clean out hence the mess from last night’s cook. I take her apart annually and just now found this crack in the bottom of my ceramic ring (name?). Can I just push it together and continue on with an eye for the future or is it needing replacing now? Thx!

If you’re able to still line up the side panels and get the top ring on with this broken I think you’re fine.  The extra air flow around the crack may change how your vent settings look normally but it’s not like it will cause erratic temps like a messed up gasket will

Also depending on how often you use this thing yearly is a bit long. That ash pile is enormous you should be at least getting all the ash out after every cook. Which that is way more than one cooks worth of ash. I’ve done a pork butt for 12 hrs, reloaded and done another 12 hr brisket on mine and it had that much ash in the bottom lol

Ceramics are lifetime warranty. If it’s under your info why not get it replaced?

No not absolute… you can DIY it back together with “9 wire or gigantic hose clamp.

That being said, send this picture to KJ at there claims section on website and they will replace, if you are original owner.

You can also cement the pieces together with Rurland Fireplace Mortar

Eventually. I mine for two years with it cracked like that. Just push them together and put some small stones around it too hold the shape for the fire ring pedals

If you don’t have the warranty, the parts are pretty inexpensive to buy from KJ website. Often out of stock… but the Classic was about 40 bucks shipped.

Definitely not necessary. Same thing happened to me. I did file a claim and got a new one but I am still using the one that broke in half
