Ordered the 12lb Japanese A5 Wagyu ribeye roast from Costco.com — absolutely worth it.

UPS was delayed a full day but it still showed up completely solid frozen. The marbling is insane and 100% legit A5. I broke the whole roast down into steaks, half-steaks, and smaller pieces, and even saved all the fat trimmings.

    Wow

Looks like it could melt in your mouth like butter!

My Costco started carrying the A5 strip mini roasts. I can’t justify spending $250 unless I’m splitting it with someone or a couple people. And I need a planned reason to partake.

They did recently however start selling Saran wrapped thin cuts, like a lb ish. That’s more enticing for sure.

  3. Wow. That’s breathtaking. The work that goes into these cattle is truly admirable. It’s beautiful. That Rib is art! 😆

  4. Grats. Hard to tell how thick you cut the steaks exactly, but they look like normal steak thickness. You probably need to share each steak with at least another person. A5 in normal steak portions would be too rich for one person. Some of the very marbled American Wagyu steaks I’ve had to split into two portions for myself (and normally I can eat a lot of steak).

  5. Good lord, this is like reverse marbling. Mostly fat with some meat mixed in.

Looks amazing man… how much did it set you back?

How do you cook that without ending up with a plate full of oil and fat and no meat?

I don’t think theirs such thing as a “ribeye roast”

  9. Did it arrive frozen, and if so, how did you manage to cut it?

This looks pretty nasty tbh. I never saw the appeal of an expensive lump of fat witha bit of meat in it. Every time Ive had wagyu, its just been an overly rich greaseball.

Please use this in small portions. Like sashimi with a quick sear.

This is the weirdest comment section I’ve ever seen.

That must have been the weakest cow in history. There’s no way it could stand on its own with that little bit of muscle mass.

The whole thing is a fat trimming.

You’re paying a premium for the least desirable and profitable part of the animal.

Mmmm love when it coats my tongue like butter needing something like pickle to cleanse the palette

  15. What is with the people commenting on this. Dear lord. Yeah it’s not for peasants, yeah it’s mostly fat, yes you can’t eat more than couple of mouthfuls without feeling sick. It’s delicacy, not something you eat every day. I tried it, once, when somebody else paid, it’s delicious if you love beef… if you don’t love meat, why the hell are you all in this sub?

That’s like a whole year’s supply, the marbling is insane!

For a subreddit dedicated to meat, y’all know absolutely fuck all

  18. As long as you find it worth it man, I love me some fatty meat, but this.. oh my.
