Add white to all your colors so they are more opaque. It appears that your outline icing is either too thick or has dried too much before flooding. Your flood icing is too thin. Work on your piping technique so you have better control of your lines (practicing lettering is a great way to do this). Are you using a scribe tool to settle your icing? If you are, it might be the consistency of the icing. If not, you should watch some videos of how to use a scribe and try that. Your gingerbread man has those crack lines because it dried partially and then was moved (looks like it may have been dropped or jostled, it’s sad when this happens, but can’t really be fixed the way you tried to here). Flood larger areas first and then adjacent smaller areas (the Santa eyes).

Idk if this is helpful but consistency – stiff for outlining should be like toothpaste and flood should be like shampoo. If you start and you notice that they’re not right, just redo them by adding more icing or more water 🙂

These are great for a beginner! Looks like you’ve gotten some sound advice in the comments. Something I found out in the last 2 months, is meringue powder does make a difference. I’ve been working with RI for years & this season tried meringue powder from Hobby Lobby, big mistake. I like Genies Dream on Amazon. I add white to batch to help prevent color bleed (take out some if you’re planning black, doesn’t get pitch black with white in it). I like to use bottles & tips, you’ll discover what works for you. Watch videos, play with consistencies & colors, practice & HAVE FUN!
