It’s the most wonderful time of the year—for pets as much as humans. Sure, the humans are home more than usual, but the real indulgence lies in the treats and rituals that await the cats of our team this time of year.

In the spirit of giving and celebrating the small moments—and finer things in life—we’ve teamed up with Purina FANCY FEAST to explore the little Christmas traditions we have with our pets. Read on for some inspo on how to celebrate with your own furry friends this festive season.

A Full-On Feast For Frankie

Cat in lapIt’s officially Frankie’s first Christmas. “But we have big plans,” shares commercial content producer Coby, who’s setting, sorry, catapulting—the bar high.

A special Christmas dinner with her favourite Purina FANCY FEAST foods will kick things off—all while wearing a themed collar, of course. A reindeer-themed bell is the go, bonus if it’s shiny.

To finish? Lots and lots of presents. “I’m going to have to find somewhere secret to put them, though,” admits Coby. “She’ll definitely sniff them out and help herself early if they’re under the tree.”

A Christmas (Cat) Cake For Edmund

Cat with cakePatty cake? Nope, it’s paté cake on Edmund’s very own tiny antique plate for Christmas Day.

“We take a small tin of Purina FANCY FEAST paté (the round tins work a treat), put it in the middle of the plate like jelly,” notes contributor Ava.

“We then decorate it like a tiny cake with sachets (just like icing) and biscuits to make it super dainty. He laps it up in one go—often leaving a treat for later on his big ol’ puffy cheeks.”

Shred-mas For Cleo Chonk

Cat with hat onTurns out it’s not about the journey or the destination for Cleo. It’s actually about the wrapping paper in between.

She puts her fiercely good claws to the test and, each year, unwraps her own gifts of treats by herself. “She tears it apart!” admits editorial manager Isabel.

“Oh, and she gets a different wrapping paper every year,” shares the fur-mum, who goes the extra mile by personalising her gift wrap. “Like the queen she is.”

Stockings For Everyone

Cat on mantleNever one to leave a family member out, client service director Felicity’s cat has his very own stocking. It hangs next to the human family and comes on Christmas morning. “We wrap a new toy and accessories” for the kitty to wear on Christmas Day.

After all, don’t we all want to look dapper for Christmas brunch?

A Moment To Remember

Cat on santas lapBrownie points for creativity and memorability go to commercial content producer Isabella. “Every year, I treat my son to a piccie on Santa’s lap that I print out and frame for the whole family.”

In true cat fashion, Isabella admits, “The only problem is that he can’t be trusted with the big man, so I’ve had to get creative with my photo-editing skills.”

A true trooper, the proof is in their mantle’s pudding: “So far, I’ve got three on the mantle displayed in all their glory.”

Everyone Gets A Gift

Cat in handEllie’s Christmas is one where gifting and receiving are equal parts fun. “We wrap Finny’s presents and pop them under the tree from us,” she notes, ensuring her first son is thoroughly included.

In true pet mum form, she’s not stopping there. “He also has a stocking where he gets presents from Santa,” she adds.

This year might be an extra-and situation for Finny. Ellie muses, “I haven’t done this, but I have friends who go to Westfield or pet stores for pet and family photos with Santa.”
