Instructions
00:00 Introduction
00:10 Combine sugars, water, and orange juice in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until sugars are dissolved, and bring to a boil.
02:00 Add cranberries and return to a boil.
02:12 Reduce heat to a simmer and continue to cook cranberries, stirring occasionally, 10-15 minutes or until all or most berries have burst (careful, there is some splatter) and the mixture is slightly reduced. The longer you cook your cranberries the thicker your mixture will be, but it will also thicken up after standing.
02:53 Transfer mixture to a bowl and allow it to cool for at least 20 minutes at room temperature.
03:10 Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes
Cranberry sauce can be prepared up to a week in advance; keep refrigerated in an airtight container.

  1. Oh my gosh this looks amazing. Never would’ve thought of adding brown sugar! I’m going to make this for my Thanksgiving dinner!

  2. Me personally do not like cranberry sauce in a can it is nasty. But I will drink cranberry juice from the bottle. Nice recipe though

  3. I’m a homemade cranberry relish kind of gal. So much better than anything from the store. I like to add chopped walnuts for some extra crunch.

  4. I buy extra cranberries each year, divide them in two and vacuum seal and freeze them for use later when they're not available. I used to buy it in the can, but not now. I love the whole berry sauce made at home.

  5. Instead of OJ, I use some orange zest and wine – cranberry wine when I can get it, and after previous fails making it the day of, I make it the day before to make sure it sets up nicely.

  6. I've never thought about making my own cranberry sauce, but now that I see how easy it is to make, I definitely want ever buy it again fresh is always better thanks Sam and happy thanksgiving to you and your family

  7. "Get Sauced" 🤣😂 Love it! I am going to go for it and make this this year. I have been wanting to make homemade forever! Thanks for the recipe❤

  8. I agree!! The homemade is so much better! The cooked vs fresh Is really a personal choice. I like both, but for me, I prefer the uncooked. Just put the washed cranberries and the orange (peel and all) through a food grinder into a bowl. Add sugar … start with 1 cup….and stir in completely. Taste. Add more sugar if needed for your taste. Best prepared the day before so the flavors come together. I think some people add strawberries, but not me.

  9. very close to mine, I add walnuts, no brown sugar but I add 1/4 cup of maple syrup and a cinnamon stick.

  10. I’ve made homemade cranberry sauce before following the instructions on the bag of cranberries … but I’m really liking your recipe for this year‘s feast! Thank you! ❤

  11. This is the only recipe of yours that I won't be making! My husband and I can't stand the canned cranberries and we also can't stand cranberry sauce that has orange in it. Cranberry relish? No thank you! So I always make cranberry sauce using the recipe on the back of the bag. It contains cranberries, granulated sugar and water. This recipe has not ever failed me in over 50 years! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  12. I add orange zest and paer brown sugar and part msple syrup. Add cinnamon too.
I also cook it all on one pot. 😅

  13. I always make my own, too. Instead of orange juice, I boil I'm plain water with white sugar, and I peel and chop an apple and add it when it starts to boil. I may try brown sugar this year to see if it adds anything.

  14. My recipe is almost identical. The only thing I do differently is to add 2 or 3 peeled and diced granny smith apples and 1 tsp of cinnamon. And I like to serve it warm. One of my favorite things to make at the holiday dinner.

  15. I like to add a finely diced jalapeño pepper along with the cranberries to mine. I double the recipe because we love the leftovers on turkey sandwiches.

  16. I made homemade cranberry sauce one year for Thanksgiving and it was so much better than canned.

  17. I told you a while back about how well cardamom pairs with blueberries. I was wondering how it would do with cranberry sauce, so I had my research team look into it. There are several recipes for cardamom cranberry sauce in case you ever decide to experiment further with this creation. Magnificent video! 🗽

  18. I found a recipe in a magazine years ago that uses seedless raspberry jam, in place of water and sugar..delicious. It had lemon zest added at the end. And a small amount of either allspice or cinnamon, if desired.
