On the famous ‘Front de Mer’ of Algiers, in the heart of the white city, and in a convivial atmosphere, despite the rain, numerous participants took part in the open-air tasting of Campania’s cuisine dishes, at the conclusion of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World in the Algerian capital.
Present at the concluding event of the gastronomic initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was the Italian ambassador to Algiers Alberto Cutillo, accompanied by the staff of the diplomatic mission in the North African country, confirming the central role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening ties between Italy and Algeria.
Despite the perceptible cold compared to previous days, children, young people, adults, women and students enlivened the Esplanade of Bab Dzira (which in Algerian dialect means ‘the gateway to the island’), a terrace on the Front de Mer in front of the Wilaya headquarters in Algiers, experiencing a convivial moment and showing great interest in the specialties of Campanian cuisine.
Chefs Giorgio Scarselli, ambassador of taste, owner and administrator of Il Bikini restaurant in Vico Equense, and executive chef Pasquale Rinaldo, joined by Francesco Strarace and Mattia Formisano, carefully prepared each dish.
Participants sampled ravioli from Vico Equense stuffed with chiavicone and grana padano, Neapolitan and pan pizza, potato bon bons stuffed with buffalo blue, and Chef Rinaldo’s caprese living an authentic Campanian culinary experience, much appreciated by the Algiers audience.
