Hi !!

Just tried some of the most delicious sashimi I’ve ever had and am looking to get some help identifying which fish is which. (I was told earlier but can no longer remember). Apparently the dark red one is whale ?!!

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The large thing on the left with the tentacles is cuttlefish

It’s my dream to eat a cuttlefish like that! Where was this restaurant?

The three fish in the back on the mat might even be the same, something like Kansawara or another member of the Mackerel family. One skin on. One skin off. One skin seared.

I’m no expert but I think they’re all seafood

Man I’ve been going to Japan for almost 20 years now and you got the wildest chaos plate of sashimi I’ve ever even heard of

The dark red is likely whale. Was it beefy?

    Big tentacles is Aori Ika
Dark red at the top is kujira
Very top on towards the right with skin on is Sawara
White on bottom right is hirame or karei
    Red above is hon maguro
    Far right is hiramasa
    Seared skin on is katsuo
I’ve eaten the white one with skin on but don’t remember.
Usugiri on the left is too hard to tell.

The sticks on the left are chopsticks. Do not ingest!
